Finally had a midwife visit yesterday (Thursday 6th) after a couple of cancellations and as I suspected Caitlyn is a trooper and has grown tremendously.
Her official measurements at birth were as follows:
Weight: 7lb 9oz (3430g)
Head : 33.2cm
Length: 51cm
Her measurements at 5 weeks were as follows:
Weight: 9lb 3oz (4190g)
Head : 36cm
Length: 53cm
She is very interactive and follows voices and people and has great head control.
It is funny though, with having a very active toddler it is easy to think that Caitlyn doesn’t do much and a wee friend of ours summed it up the other day by saying that ‘Brianna is such a fun baby and Caitlyn is just soo boring’. We will have to try hard to remember to enjoy all of Caitlyn’s developments as well as keeping up with Brianna.

Christmas has been and gone
So I meant to get this post up before new years, but time got away from me so it is a little out of date, but I will just post it anyway as is, or else it might never make it.
Christmas day has now been and gone and we had a lovely day, and Santa (and everyone else) was very kind. Thank you everyone for their cards and gifts, the girls were very spoilt.
Brianna had an awesome time opening all her presents though there was a little bit of a delay in the beginning when she had a butterfly (her favourite thing) poking out of her stocking and wanted to play with that instead and wasn't interested in opening anything else.
A nice and relaxing day, though of course everyone ate far too much, and we are still eating dessert leftovers!
Caitlyn is doing well, we have a midwife visit on Tuesday so will see how much weight she has put on but she is feeding like a trooper so I am sure she will have put on a heap.
She wasn’t settling well in her bassinet, either during the day or at night, so we wondered whether or not she didn’t like the softer mattress. Finally after persevering for a while we have moved her into a cot that we have on loan from a friend. She has been sleeping much better; she does however look soo tiny in the big cot.
We just had Uncle Jas (my bro) staying for a few days, which was lovely. He is great with the girls and we had a lovely time. On Wednesday the girls and I took Jas to the butterflies (our museum has a butterfly enclosure that is awesome and has thousands of live butterflies all year round), Jas wanted to see them and also we were keen to see Brianna’s reaction after she has become completely infatuated with butterflies. It was awesome, she had a great time and went around pointing and getting excited and she just loved it. Caitlyn wasn’t so fussed and spent the entire time sleeping (surprise, surprise).
I am starting to get used to being a parent of two and I think it is true what they say, that it isn’t as hard as you think. I did think it would be a bit of a struggle and I was concerned about losing one on one time with Brianna and being stuck on a couch all day feeding Caitlyn. I forgot how much newborns sleep though, so I am still getting loads of time with Bree when Caitlyn is in bed and getting one on one time with Caitlyn when Bree is in bed, so its working well in that regard.
Brianna is also doing well to entertain herself while I am feeding, although since Caitlyn has been home we have had Mum here and now Scott is home, so once Scott is back at work it will be interesting to see how Brianna is when she doesn’t have anybody else to distract her.

Playing with Gloop, a great fun product that is a liquid and a solid!
(to make - mix 1C water with 2C cornflour)

Adoring big sis, Brianna loves to have cuddles with Caitlyn on the couch
Christmas day, Brianna trying and playing on her presents and having a ball
This was a gift for Caitlyn, but Brianna spent the day playing with it and played with it fairly contstantly since, so a pretty big hit with the big sis. I am sure Caitlyn is happy to share at the moment.
Caitlyn taking a laid back approach to the Christmas day celebrations
