Brianna had her grommet surgery today - YEAH!
You think that when you go in for 'surgery' that it will be a big deal but it really was nothing to worry about.
We had to be at the hospital at 7.30am so it was a bit of an early start. Brianna was soo good, she asked for breakfast a couple of times before we left, but was ok when we told her she had to wait till after the Doctor.
When we were in hospital waiting (about to go in) she picked up a plastic container in the waiting room and held it up saying 'water'. I felt soo sorry for her.
It wasn't long after that she got called in for surgery (about 9am). Scott went with her and she sat on his knee with the mask over her face until she went to sleep. We were told that she wouldn't like the gas much and she was very agitated and fought Scott a bit before finally drifting off to sleep.
However, it was over soo quickly and Scott got back to the waiting room and had really only been sitting down with me for about 5 minutes when the Dr came and said the grommets were in and she was fine and was now in recovery waiting to wake up.
10 minutes after that and the 3 of us were heading into recovery to see her. She was calling 'Mummy Mummy' and was passed straight into my arms. She was a bit unsure of things for a bit and didn't quite know what she wanted, so we spent the first few minutes just sitting on the bed cuddling.
But soon after she was back to her normal happy self and wolfed down a lemonade iceblock followed by some jelly. We had to stay in recovery till 10.30am which was just over an hour, but time passed quickly and we were soon on our way back into the fresh air and sunshine.
Apart from the huge 3 1/2 hour sleep she had after lunch, you would be forgiven for not realising that she had surgery at all today.
I look forward to seeing how much difference the tiny wee grommets make :-)
Caitlyn did really well today, it was a big day for her and she was sooo tired. I woke her up at 6.30am so she could eat breakfast before Bree got up. She didn't sleep at all at the hospital and finally crashed on our way home about 11.30am. Not surprising that she had another decent sleep after lunch with Bree, so I managed to get a kip in myself :-) hehe I am not used to these 'really' early starts!
So Caitlyn has been very busy over the past few days. On Saturday she climbed the stairs on her own, and she is now getting up them so fast its hard to believe its only been a few days.
The biggest thing though is on Sunday she started walking with Brianna's doll pushchair. She stood up and held the handle and then started walking across the lounge. Pretty exciting for her, me I am not so sure, my baby is on the move, not soo much a baby anymore huh?
And the other thing is she has now started waving :-) So cute!
