Sorry to any of you who have been checking in for the holiday update, I had planned to get it done, but my week got away on me.
Our trip to North Canterbury was great. We got on the road on Thursday morning straight after Brianna’s breakfast and drove through to Pleasant Point (just out of Timaru) where we stopped at my aunties for a lunchtime feeding and then made it through to Mums at Waipara by 5pm for the next feed.
Plunket and others had told us that babies often suffer from car lag, but Brianna was fine. She slept the whole way and was good as once we got settled in Waipara.
We spent a couple of leisurely days at home veging with Granny and then had a couple of busy days catching up with friends and family.
Scott flew home on the Monday and left his girls to their socialising for the rest of the week.
We managed to spread out the visits so that it wasn’t too full on for Brianna and she had some rest time in between visits to relax.
It was a visit of many first introductions: Brianna is the first Grandchild on both sides of our families and the first Great Grandchild on my Dad’s side.
While I was in Christchurch I visited a friend of mine and her one day old son. He was born 8lb and compared to Brianna he felt so small and light. Funny how things change in a matter of months!
I started my trip home on Saturday and stopped in again at my aunties in Pleasant Point, this time to stay the night to break up the trip. We finally got home on Sunday afternoon, it was a great time away, but even better to be back home and I am not sure who was more excited, me, Scott or Brianna!
